Getting Started With the Breakout Strategy in Profectus

This quick guide walks you step-by-step through using the Breakout Strategy template in Profectus. This is your launchpad for building, testing, and customizing a no-code trading system.

Step 0: Access the Trading System Template [1 Min]

Step 1: Export the Trading System [1 Min]

Before diving into customization, export the trading system with the upper right 'DOWNLOAD' button.

Step 2: Upload to MetaTrader 5 [4 Min]

Step 3: Understand the Logic [1 Min]

Just give it a quick read for a rough understanding how the Breakout Strategy works:

Pair & Timeframe: GBPJPY on the 1H chart (but you can change it).
Setup Trigger: Every hour during the London session, the system checks if the previous candle closed above the middle Bollinger Band.
Entry Rule: If so, it places a buy-stop at the candle's high. If untriggered after 2 hours, the order is canceled.
Risk: Stop loss is 0.3% of price.
Reward: Take profit is 9.5x the stop loss (R:R = 1:9.5).
Trailing Stop: If trade hits 1R profit, the stop loss moves to the low of the candle 5 bars back, updated every hour.

Step 4: Make It Your Own [10 Min]

Let's do our first adjustments together - step-by-step:

Change the session time from 9AM to 8PM to 11AM to 6PM. Run a backtest in Profectus and compare the runs in the Backtests panel: Fewer trades are taken because the trading window got smaller by 4 hours in total.
Change the Risk % from 1% to 2% Run a backtest in Profectus and compare the runs in the Backtests panel: Your winners are getting bigger as well as your losses.
Change the Stop Loss % of the price from 0.3 to 0.5 Run a backtest in Profectus and compare the runs in the Backtests panel: You exit trades later due to your bigger stop loss.
