Build and backtest inside Profectus first
Every trading system you create in Profectus is built, tested and analysed on our platform before it ever touches a terminal. Click TEST STRATEGY in the top right of the builder canvas, set your Project, Asset, Timeframe and a date range anywhere between 2015 and 2026, then click START BACK-TEST. The backtest runs in the cloud, typically taking 2 to 15 minutes — just keep Profectus open in a browser tab. Free users get 5 backtests per month.
Results land in the right-hand Backtests panel: Net Profit %, PF (profit factor) and Win Rate, and you can keep and compare multiple runs per project. Click VIEW for the full multi-page Backtest Report (downloadable as PDF), or SEE CHART to open a candlestick chart with every trade drawn on it — entries marked, winners green, losers red, up to 200 trades. Profectus covers 32 instruments across forex majors and crosses, SP500, US30, XAUUSD and XAGUSD, on timeframes from M1 to MN1.
Backtests run on 1-minute historical bar data, free for every user. Tick-level backtesting is coming soon.

Why MT5, and not MT4
When your strategy is ready to trade live, Profectus exports it to run on MetaTrader 5, the terminal almost every broker supports. MT4 isn't supported: it's the older generation of the MetaQuotes platform, and every strategy built in Profectus compiles to MQL5 — the language MT5 runs on, not MT4.
If you've used MT4 before, the transition is simple: the trading logic doesn't change, only the terminal it executes in. Use the setup guides above to get MetaTrader 5 running on Windows or Mac, then come back to Profectus whenever you want to build, backtest or refine the next version of your strategy.
