We have simplified the way you download your projects from the Profectus builder. You can choose to download the execution (.ex5) file to run the Expert Advisor directly, or you can share your project with others using the Share feature.
Download your project
In the top-right corner of the builder, there are 3 buttons. The first button is the Download button and can be used to directly download the Metatrader 5 execution (.ex5) file of your project to your computer. This file can only be used to run the project in Metatrader 5.
Share your project
Next to the Download button, you find the Share button. The Share button will open up the Project Properties section, where you can now find a unique Share link for your project after clicking Share.
β
In this section, you can adjust the properties of the project before copying the share link. These properties will all be embedded in the shared project and are visible to anyone opening your Share link.
To share your project, you click the copy button in the Share link field, and the project link will be copied to your clipboard.
Why Share project links
We have simplified the way you can share and store projects outside of the Profectus platform. Using Share links allows you to easily share your projects with community members, the Profectus support team, or anyone else you want to share your projects with.
Shared links also allow for a very convenient way of storing projects in (shared) databases outside of the Profectus builder.
How to open a Shared link
When clicking a Shared link, you will be directed to the Profectus builder and will be prompted to log in or sign up. If you are already logged in, you will see a pop-up message.
β
You can choose to create a new project from the Shared link, or you can choose to overwrite the most recent project that is open in your builder canvas. By default, the option to create a new project is selected to avoid losing any of your other projects.
β
When the project is opened, all properties, including Inputs & Variables, are embedded with the project exactly as the creator of the link intended it. You can now continue working on this project or directly download it as an .ex5 file to start backtesting and/or trading.
The creator of the Shared link is not affected by any of the changes made by any of the receivers of the link. Receivers are free to change any of the properties and generate a unique Shared link of their own.
Importing old MQ5 files
The Shared link feature is the easiest way to share and store projects, and takes away the need for .mq5 files. We understand that you might have saved old Profectus projects in .mq5 format on your computer for later use. We will temporarily continue to support importing and exporting .mql5 files for this exact reason until further notice.
The importing button has been moved to the project library, next to the Add New Folder button. Remember, you can only import .mq5 files that are created in Profectus.
